What are the criteria that make a Conflict-Free Condo Association?
Condo rules are accepted as good for all, and reviewed in due time when the need to adapt and change arises
Board Decision-making is transparent
Different people rotate at the Board, because free elections are the norm
Integration of new owners is fast and painless
There is a willingness to sort problems out without “throwing the book” at owners, but negotiating about the best consensual solution
A spirit of neighborliness prevails over the legal mindset
No power play to keep owners in the dark about Board decisions
Being in the Board is considered service, no power grabbing

Conflict-Free Condo Association Seal of Honor

To recognize that Community building skills are important, help people live satisfactory lives and protect personal relationships, this seal recognizes good behavior from these same neighbors which make life enjoyable at our condo homes.

This honor is conferred to the Condo Association Board that, according to more than 50% of Association members, is recognized as an efficient, friendly, and engaged team.
If you want to initiate this process in your own Condo Association, print this form and circulate it in your condominium, and see if at least 65 % of owners can agree in a positive evaluation. My Board's evaluation:

Never Few times Most times Always
Transparency
Honesty
Democracy
Respect all

It is important to recognize good, dedicated boards, which increase the value of our condo life.

We are going to publish here the Honor Roll of GOOD Condo Boards, so Please, nominate yours.

Owners in the process of selling should be interested in getting this Conflict-Free Seal, so they can tell prospective buyers about the good quality of condo life that awaits them.

A good Condo Association Board is not the one that never has a conflict, (that is impossible!) but one that processes the inevitable differences among people with respect, patience and understanding, putting owners’ interests first.
